A first GIS course for reading, drawing and presenting map data. It covers coordinate systems, vector and raster layers, attributes and a finished map layout.
Syllabus
- Explain vector and raster data and what a GIS is used for
- Set coordinate systems and map projections
- Add, symbolise and label map layers
- Read and query an attribute table
- Digitise and edit points, lines and polygons
- Run basic geoprocessing such as buffer, clip and intersect
- Compose a map layout with a legend, scale and title
